This also means we will have to stop the music at 5h00 so please come early and don’t miss out on Igor’s set. He’s well worth coming early for ! We were back at our home-base and the crowd showed up early to hear Tecnum warm up the room, he did that quickly and swiftly which left Spacid no other choice then to keep up the pace. Minimal techno with a drive that got everybody dancing. When JPLS took over live he tuned it down a bit and played deeper mindtrip set that allowed us to have a break now and then and resulted in lots of smiles on the dance-floor. Those broadened when Tom Dazing took over with his warm sound. Perfect for the Spanish Tadeo to continue on a very funky minimal house /tech set to close it all off !
The next edition of Ultra on September 13th will take place in the Ballroom of Vooruit.
Although the Minus One venue could have been great, it proved a bit too far out of the town centre to get you all there. So we are hoping that by moving to the Ballroom of Vooruit we will get you all moving to the minimal sounds of the moment!
This time, we bring you another one of the new revelations on Richie Hawtin’s M_Nus label namely JPLS. Since his first release on Minus, he’s already delivered us a full album called ‘Twilite’ and a recent EP ‘Fuckshuffle’. And there’s also Green01, with the famous Skoozbot remix, which is to be found on Minus’ best off compilation ‘Nothing Much’ of last year. He has performed a.o. on the Detroit Music festival, Sonar and the Minus nights in Ibiza. Our second guest is Tadeo, a close colleague of Alex Under and Damian Schwarz with whom he runs the collective / netlabel Net28. Next to that there is also Tadeo’s own label Cyclical tracks and releases on CMYK Music. They are spreading their minimal techno vibe all over Spain and abroad. Young gun Tom Dazing will bring a live set of his releases on various labels as Toys for Boys, MB Selektions, Aesthetik and the recently released DVA shot on German label Heimatmelodie, a track that can be heard frequently in the sets of a.o. Richie Hawtin and a lot of new material that hopefully will be picked up by some big labels soon as well! Resident Spacid will bring his favorite minimal tracks of the moment. And young talent Tecnum from Playground has made it from the Young Talent Corner on the Ultra room at Kozzmozz to a well deserved spot on this edition of Ultra, come and check him out !

On Kozzmozz this Saturday we left a spot open to give a young talent again the opportunity to show his talent to our audience in the ultra room. Tom Dazing listened to the many entries we received through Poppunt and he selected DJ Hajime. His name is Japanese for 'Go or start'. He's been practicing at home for about 6 years and is now ready to show his skills in front of an audience for the very first time. Come and cheer him on ! On his current track-list are records by Melchior Productions, Shinedoe, Kabale und Liebe, Djinxx, Richie Hawtin and many more !

Last Ultra: a blast!

What another great edition of Ultra ... extremely outgoing atmosphere, dancing and smiling people all around.
The Jonas Muller Project dived into it directly with a lot of hits and Darko at his best was followed by a lush and melodic live-set from the Pompelmoessap guys from Switzerland who already have a big following in Belgium. The crowd in Ghent finally also got to meet Jay Haze who played deep and divers and we loved it! Spacid took it up a notch ( or two) and made us go out with a bang!

Jay Haze at Ultra / New Album

Once again the headliner of Ultra is super hot for the moment as we would like to present to you the newest album from Jay Haze (aka Fuckpony). The album that is rich with many different styles of music, reflecting various talents from the artist himself. It's the first Jay Haze album in the past 3 years after his first album. There will be 3 parts of the album. CD1 brings Jay’s experimental beats into the realm of soul music, resulting in futuristic pop marked by fuzzy bass lines and fat handclaps. CD2 conveys the moods that words are incapable of. Its an all-instrumental affair with 15 tracks that provide a sense of Jay’s broad palate, disregarding the constraints of genre. The double-LP, with completely different tracks from the double-CD, will prove to longtime fans that Jay Haze hasn’t lost his ability to move the dance-floor. Self-produced in his Berlin studio over the last three years, Love & Beyond is Jay Haze’s oeuvre: a fragmented, singular vision from someone who is (in no particular order) a producer, a businessman, a DJ, a human. All in all, the 35 tracks are a testament to Jay’s DIY professionalism and his commitment to moving forward.

Last Ultra was wicked!
The people were welcomed by the deep minimal Basic Channel sound, brought by Spacid in warm-up mode, followed by Tom Dazing who took it from there and built it up. Tom played all of his famous tracks spiced with a few new ones. This shows how talented this young flemish dude really is. He turned the room upside down.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Tony Rohr stepped in. All the way from the Big Apple, he started to tease people with deep minimal sounds, building it up to the pumping Rohr sound which made everyone go bananas!
Heartthrob slowed it down a bit and then strongly built it up to his typical smooth and sexy Minus sound, ending his set with his best known tracks. Doing the graveyard shift, Pierre closed the party with his famous Brussels minimal tech sound.
We think this Ultra edition may have been the best one of the year. The atmosphere was unheard of.
You were a wonderful crowd.

Two weeks to go and the heat is on ! Minimal music for maximum pleasure and three smashing live-acts on one night ! First up is Heartthrob from Richie Hawtin's M-nus label and hits like Baby Kate ( remixed by Magda, Plastikman, Troy Pierce and many more) and Time for Ensor. Next to M-nus he's also released tracks on Get Physical, Wagon Repair, Underline and more. He's joined by Tony Rohr from New York who's Hidden Agenda label is really hot for the moment. We also know him from the mega hit DB Revenge and releases on Cocoon Records. Third live is from our own Tom Dazing who's records on LessizMore and Heimatmelodie are played by grandmaster Richie Hawtin himself. You can read all about Tom in the Out Soon magazine from October. Our resident Spacid and Lessizmore honcho Pierre will be playing their favorite minimal tracks of the moment. No minimal fan that respects him or her self and the music should let an opportunity like this one pass by.
ULTRA new venue!

Ultra is back on track with a new series of parties, held in the venue Minus 1. This is the result of the joint collaboration of Kozzmozz (www.kozzmozz.com) and Democrazy (www.democrazy.be)
The first party will take place on Saturday 13-10-2007. For more info, see next event.
The second party, planned for Saturday 17-11-2007, is already taking shape and we can already reveal that Heartthrob will deliver a live set.
All of this will take place in a brand new and shiny venue, which simply radiates minimalism.

New Minimal spacid mix, live @ Switch

Ultra resident Spacid was invited on the national radio show Switch and played a minimal set to promote the Ultra parties.
The time is here when minimal is still going strong, popular and brings us loads of exciting new releases that wakes the interests of many people, that’s why we will keep on promoting minimal to get this scene on the same level as in foreign countries.
That’s why in the fall of 2007 we have programmed many Ultra events on new and ideal locations in Ghent.

Thank you all for coming and filling up our dancefloor @ the last Ultra.
The atmosphere was right and the dj’s delivered different flavours of minimal. In other words, it was simply nice being there.
